"Le Infezioni in Medicina" is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal which publishes, free of charge, editorials, reviews, original articles, case reports and letters to the Editor on experimental and clinical investigations concerning any aspect of infectious diseases. A special section is concerned with historical aspects of infectious diseases.
"Le Infezioni in Medicina", first issued in March 1993, is published in Italy and the official language is English. The logo reported on the cover sheet is the ancient alchemic symbol representing in 15th century the process of purification.
The Editorial Board includes many outstanding infectious disease specialists and clinical microbiologists from most part of the word. All manuscripts submitted for publication, are peer reviewed for their clinical relevance, technical accuracy, clarity and objectivity and, if accepted, are shortly published. Contributions from all over the world are welcome under the only criterion of scientific quality.
By September 2017, "Le Infezioni in Medicina" is the "Official Journal of the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases". The aim of the journal is to publish original and high-quality papers on all aspects of infections: clinical, microbiological, diagnostic and epidemiological, bringing together the knowledge and expertise from all specialties involved in infection research and clinical practice, and taking into consideration the continuous changes in the field of infections. Each issue of the journal is well balanced in the typology of articles presented, bringing readers some high-quality reviews dealing with specific hot topics of interest and several original articles referring to unpublished studies on both experimental and clinical research in the field of infectious diseases. Publication of Case Reports, Letters to the Editor and articles dealing with Infections in the history of Medicine is not a primary purpose of the journal but they are always represented even though in a limited quote of papers published.
